The French Language Teaching Department was founded in 1982. In the academic staff, there are 3 professors, 1 associate professor, 2 assistant professors and 3 research assistants. Prior to the 4-year undergraduate programme, the students have to successfully complete the preparatory year. Those who wish to be exempt from the preparatory year have to obtain the necessary grade in French proficiency examination. The Department grants B.A. degrees for teaching French. The academic staff of the French Language Programme holds the MA and PhD programmes at the Institute of Educational Sciences.
